An excellent bantamweight bout has been set up for Bellator's season three bantamweight tournament, as 6-1 Ulysses Gomez will face off with Minnesota's top ranked 135 pounder Travis Reddinger.
The bout was first reported by MMAWeekly.com, and the fight is expected to go down on Bellator's September 2 event, which would be Bellator 27. The venue for the location has not yet been determined.
Gomez is running on a four fight win streak, and he's fought most of his career in Tachi Palace Fights. He trains under Marc Laimon and the Cobra Kai Jiu Jitsu team.
Reddinger is a 14-2 fighter and has fought in several promotions in and around Minnesota. He's also riding a four fight win streak into this fight.
Bellator's second season begins this August, with each event airing live or via tape delay on Fox Sports Net.
Penick's Analysis: Reddinger's an exciting fighter and I've been able to see him live a couple of times here in Minnesota. He's a very good addition to this Bellator tournament, but he's got a very tough test in Gomez, who is touted as a high level prospect in the division. With Reddinger's participation I'm hoping to see Bellator make their way Minnesota with an event.
