Josh Koscheck's Bellator debut is set, with Bellator MMA officials announcing on Monday that he'll take on Matt Secor in the main event of Bellator 148 on Jan. 29.
In addition to that fight, Koscheck's former and likely future foe Paul Daley will face Andy Uhrich in the night's main event, which will come to the SaveMart Center in Koscheck's hometown of Fresno, Calif.
Koscheck spent ten years fighting for the UFC after taking part in the very first season of The Ultimate Fighter, and went through an evolution in the sport throughout that time. He challenged Georges St-Pierre for the UFC Welterweight Title in 2010, and though he won two more after that one-sided defeat, he suffered losses in each of his last five UFC bouts.
The most recent loss came in March of this year, as he took a short notice fight in order to finish out his contract, and he was subsequently submitted by Erick Silva.
Secor, who took part in the 16th season of The Ultimate Fighter, never got an invite to the UFC out of the show. He holds a 7-2 record, with those two losses coming against UFC vets Nordine Taleb and Lyman Good, but he rides a four-fight winning streak into this particular fight. His most recent win came just last month, as he scored a submission over Jeremie Holloway at Bellator 144.
Daley, who was kicked out of the UFC in 2010 for sucker-punching Koscheck after the bell, fights for the fourth time in a Bellator cage. He's won all three of his previous appearances, last defeating Dennis Olson by TKO in May, and he returns to MMA after a kickboxing win on their Dynamite 1 event in September. He meets Uhrich, who returns to Bellator after scoring three wins outside of the organization since his last appearance.
Koscheck and Daley, should both win their fights, are expected to then meet for a second time later on in 2016.
