Fedor Emelianenko's MMA return will not be coming in the UFC, but on Spike TV.
Emelianenko was announced as one of the main event competitors for a New Year's Eve card in Japan from former Pride boss Nobuyuki Sakakibara.
It's being dubbed "Bellator: Dynamite 2," but will take place in Japan under Sakakibara, who has not promoted an MMA event since the fall of Pride due to terms of that organization's sale to the UFC.
"The Last Emperor" had been reportedly in talks with the UFC, but will instead compete elsewhere once again in his first fight in more than three years.
While the Spike TV broadcast referred to this card as a "Bellator: Dynamite" event, it was also stated that Spike is the U.S. broadcast partner for Sakakibara's return. More details to come as we move on in the fall.
