Despite getting stripped of the Bellator Middleweight Championship, Brandon Halsey will compete for that title again this October at Bellator 144.
Bellator President Scott Coker announced in an interview with MMAJunkie.com's John Morgan that Halsey will face Rafael Carvalho for that belt, which was vacated when Halsey missed weight for his defense against Kendall Grove in May. Grove could have won the belt had he picked up a victory on that card, but Halsey scored a fourth round TKO to remain unbeaten in his nine-fight MMA career.
Halsey now takes on Carvalho to try to regain the title on the Oct. 23 card, which will be headlined by the Bantamweight Title rematch between Marcos Galvao and Eduardo Dantas.
Carvalho steps into a title fight following a win over Joe Schilling in April. The Brazilian has won eleven straight fights since a loss in his MMA debut.
