"In my mind, Weichel was the one who deserved the title shot, so when the change came, I felt like the right thing was done. Every fighter in my division can end up fighting me. I got a game plan for every single one of them, so it's not a problem... He knows how to pace the fight, he doesn't get exposed, he doesn't brawl, he hits and retreats fast, he doesn't like getting tagged. His weakness is that the exposes his chin a little. He likes to taunt people and tell them to hit him in the chin. So I will go on a hunt for his chin. He exposes it too much and I will land."
Penick's Analysis: Freire is an excellent fighter, and a more than deserving Champion in this Bellator featherweight division. Weichel represents a serious test, though. He's a 13-year veteran who has faced some serious competition in a number of weight classes, and he's been very successful over the last six years in particular, going 17-2 in that stretch. He can be stopped, he has lost eight times in his career, getting finished in seven of them. That gives Freire more than enough confidence that he can do that himself. Of course, Weichel is very good at finishing fighters as well, having stopped his opponent in 26 of his 35 career victories. This is a very good fight for Bellator, and should be the highlight of the night in St. Louis on June 19.
