Phil Davis to Bellator MMA is official.
The organization sent out a press release this afternoon announcing his signing, saying it's an "exclusive, multi-fight deal."
"I can't wait to be fighting in Bellator and wreck shop on everyone," said Davis. "I am the absolute best and most dominant grappler to ever fight in MMA and I'm excited to get in there and compete at my new home."
"Phil is a world class Mixed Martial Artist and we are very happy to be adding him to OUR roster of some of the best Light Heavyweights in the world," said Bellator MMA President Scott Coker. "Bellator remains fully committed to building its world-class roster by signing top free agents like Davis, as well as grooming up-and-coming stars. We've got some amazing matchups in mind for 'Mr. Wonderful' that we will be announcing in the weeks to come."
Penick's Analysis: Davis' comment about being the best and "most dominant" grappler ever in MMA is one of the funnier things I've read in quite some time. His grappling was neutralized in his UFC losses, and he's scraped by rather than dominated several other victories. Regardless, he's immediately the top light heavyweight on the Bellator roster, and I'd expect him to be thrown into the title picture shortly.
