Bellator has booked a fight between Kimbo Slice and Ken Shamrock to headline UFC 138 in St. Louis, but the highlight of the night will come in the newly booked co-main event.
According to a report from Guilherme Cruz at MMAFighting.com, Patricio "Pitbull" Freire will put his Featherweight Championship on the line against Georgi Karakhanyan on the card, which hits the Scottrade Center on June 19 and airs live on Spike TV.
Freire has won six fights in a row, and in that stretch he's captured the title from Pat Curran and defended it with a submission win over Daniel Straus.
Karakhanyan made a successful return to Bellator earlier this year when he choked out Bubba Jenkins in the first round at Bellator 132. It was the 29-year-old's first appearance in Bellator since 2011, and it just so happens the opponent he faced in that final Bellator bout in 2011 was Freire. Karakhanyan lost that fight by TKO, but went on to win nine fights in a row before a loss to Rick Glenn in World Series of Fighting.
