Bellator's "British Invasion" card this Friday night has lost one of its key British competitors, as Michael Page has been forced out with an injury, according to a report from Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour.
Page's scheduled opponent, Curtis Millender, will remain on the card, as Brennan Ward is stepping in on less than a week's notice as an injury replacement.
The 26-year-old Ward got a shot at Bellator's Middleweight Championship last March after winning the season nine tournament, but he was submitted by then-Champ Alexander Shlemenko. A follow up loss to Tamdan McCrory in September now has him in desperate need of a win.
He'll be dropping down to welterweight for the first time, and will try to hand the undefeated Millender his first loss. Millender makes his debut after posting seven straight wins in California to kick off his career.
Friday's card airs live on Spike TV from the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn., headlined by the Light Heavyweight Title bout between Emanuel Newton and Liam McGeary.
