With Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney saying the door had closed on an early resolution to their lawsuits with Eddie Alvarez, Alvarez himself decided to give an update to fans on Twitter Thursday night. Alvarez reaffirmed that he's in for the long haul on his side, and plans to bring everything out in a trial. Read what he had to say in this Storify-assisted compilation of his Tweets from Thursday night:
Penick's Analysis: Alvarez is taking his stand, and he firmly believes he's in the right. And given how long this has already gone on, Bellator looks worse and worse for essentially keeping Alvarez out of action through this ordeal. For those who believe Bellator hasn't actually matched the UFC's contract offer - given Spike TV isn't network exposure like Fox and they've never run a pay-per-view - Alvarez will eventually have his opportunity to argue his case. It just continues to take time, and it's unfortunately meant him being sidelined. Hopefully things can progress soon enough this year, but Alvarez will continue to wait until they do.
