BELLATOR NEWS: Bellator source says Paul Daley has not signed with the organization, despite reports

Despite a report yesterday from BJPenn.com stating that exiled UFC veteran Paul Daley had signed with Bellator Fighting Championships, MMAFighting.com cites a source in the organization stating that is not the case.

Per the source, "Paul Daley is not under contract with Bellator."

They could not make any further statement with Daley not being under contract. There's no word as to whether or not Daley is in talks with the organization or not, either. Daley is scheduled to fight next weekend for Australia's Impact Fighting Championships.

Daley was released from the UFC in May after sucker-punching Josh Koscheck after their bout had ended at UFC 113 in Montreal. UFC President Dana White stated Daley would never fight in the UFC again after the incident.

Penick's Analysis: Bellator still may make the most sense for Daley, so if he's in talks with the organization he still could sign a contract, but it's not a done deal yet. He made a colossally stupid mistake in Montreal, but he's still a high level fighter that fans would like to see against solid competition. Bellator can provide some of that in the welterweight division.
