...OH, ONE MORE THING - PLEASE BOOKMARK US & VISIT DAILY!
By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief The Strikeforce debut on CBS will be emanating from the Sears Center in Hoffman Estates, a suburb of Chicago, IL, pending approval from the Illinois State Athletic Commission.
According to a report from ESPNChicago.com, Strikeforce is currently in talks with the commission and is awaiting a decision before officially announcing the venue for the November 7th event.
The card will be headlined by Fedor Emelianenko's first fight for Strikeforce against Brett Rogers. The number one heavyweight fighter in the world will look to continue to establish his dominance over the division when he clashes with the undefeated and heavy handed Rogers, fresh off an eleven second knockout of Andrei Arlovski in June.
Penick's Analysis: It's a good sized venue for Strikeforce, though they aren't entirely getting into the major city they wanted to grab for this event. Many of the major market arenas are booked up already this fall with the NHL and NBA set to begin their season in October, which gave Strikeforce a more limited range of places to search out for this card. The Chicago area fans will, however, be treated to what will hopefully be the best Strikeforce has offered to date in terms of a fight card, as well as the chance to see Fedor.
DON'T GO YET... WE SUGGEST THESE MMATORCH ARTICLES, TOO!
