By: Alex Williams, MMATorch Contributor Earlier, Jamie relayed Tom Atencio's claim that Gilbert Yvel has been cleared by the California State Athletic Commission to fight at Affliction's January 24 event. Of course, that does not seem like the sort of thing that Atencio would completely make up. But according to Tom Hamlin in a story at MMAWeekly.com., the CSAC meeting on Yvel's status will not be held until January.
"Up until this point, Atencio has been a bit of a space cadet when it comes to giving out information but I think this is the first time he’s knowingly told a complete lie. And let’s not pussyfoot around. If Tom is saying Yvel has been cleared when the hearing hasn’t even happened, that’s a lie."
