Daniel Cormier is ready to enter the UFC in 2013, but before he could do that, he had business to take care of on the final Strikeforce event. In his final contracted bout for the organization, he took out relative unknown Dion Staring in an entirely one-sided performance, earning a TKO victory in the second round to move to 11-0.
Staring had nothing to offer in the fight, only surviving to the second round because he defended well enough. But he had zero offense to speak of, and left Cormier with nothing to worry about throughout the bout.
After the finish, Cormier revealed that he had signed his UFC contract already, and he's got a clear path for 2013 in his mind. For starters, he called out Frank Mir - whom he was supposed to fight in November before Mir got injured - for a fight at UFC on Fox 7 on April 20. Following that, he's eying a bout with UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones.
Cormier said he would "let" Jones defend his title on April 27 at UFC 159, and then he would "kick his ass" in the fall.
