...OH, ONE MORE THING - PLEASE BOOKMARK US & VISIT DAILY!
By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief Sam Caplan at FiveOuncesOfPain.com last night reported on the proposed bout between Matt Lindland and Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Renato "Babalu" Sobral being called off. The two looked to be set for a face off at Affliction's Day of Reckoning pay-per-view on January 24th and were going to fight at a to date undetermined catch weight.
Caplan reports that it looks like there is a "strong desire" to match up Lindland with Vitor Belfort in a middleweight bout for that event. Sobral is also still booked for the January 24th pay-per-view.
That event comes live from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, and will be headlined by a WAMMA Heavyweight Title bout between the challenger Andrei Arlovski, and the Champion Fedor Emelianenko.
Penick's Analysis: Lindland and Belfort will be a good undercard fight for that Affliction pay-per-view. It won't be cause for any more buys, but could be a fight that makes people want to continue watching Affliction. Anyone that buys the show is really buying it for Fedor vs. Arlovski, so it will be up to the undercard fighters to give people a reason to come back to the product when Fedor's not on the card.
