The HDNet preliminary portion of Affliction's "Trilogy" event on August 1st continues to fill out with the addition of a featherweight bout between Javier Vasquez and L.C. Davis. Vasquez first discussed the bout with Sherdog Radio, but MMAJunkie.com reports that the bout is close to being finalized.
Both fighters come into the event with identical 13-2 records. Vasquez just fought last weekend on the much maligned "Ultimate Chaos" pay-per-view. He defeated last second replacement Mark Kergosian in 19 seconds after confusion on the day of the weigh-ins led to his original opponent, Din Thomas, going to the hospital. Both having given conflicting comments on what took place at the weigh-ins, but nevertheless the bout didn't take place and Vasquez was left highly disappointed by the entire ordeal.
Vasquez will now face Davis, a veteran of Sengoku and the IFL along with Affliction, who is coming off his second career loss in a bout with Michihiro Omigawa this past March.
The preliminary bouts for Affliction: "Trilogy" air live on HDNet prior to the pay-per-view portion of the card on August 1st from the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA. The pay-per-view is headlined by the WAMMA Heavyweight Title bout between Fedor Emelianenko and Josh Barnett.

Penick's Analysis: This is a very good featherweight match-up for the undercard. For those that actually have access to HDNet this will be a very good lead in to the pay-per-view broadcast. Of course, with the way the last two pay-per-views have gone it'd be nice of them to replay prelim fights if they've got the time as the pacing has not been very good on either event. It got better with the January event but considering the limited reach of the HDNet station they're missing out on a larger potential audience for these fighters by not fitting in prelim fights when there's time.
