AFFLICTION NEWS: Mark Hominick vs. Deividas Taurosevicius coming to "Trilogy" undercard

Two featherweights that haven't fought since mid-2008 will be returning to action on August 1st for Affliction's "Trilogy" event at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA. According to a report from MMAJunkie.com, a bout between UFC and WEC vet Mark Hominick and IFL vet Deividas Taurosevicius is set for the preliminary card and the HDNet broadcast.

Hominick won his last bout in July of 2008 at Affliction's debut event, Banned. The Xtreme Couture fighter submitted Savant Young in the second round.

Taurosevicius has been out of action longer than that, having last competed with the IFL in May of last year. A decision loss at that event brought an end to a six fight winning streak.

Affliction: "Trilogy" airs live on pay-per-view on August 1st, headlined by the WAMMA Heavyweight Championship bout between Fedor Emelianenko and Josh Barnett. The preliminary card is set to air prior to the pay-per-view broadcast on HDNet.

Penick's Analysis: This is a solid prelim bout for the HDNet broadcast. Hominick's had an up and down career but has looked very impressive many times, and looked especially so against Young last year at "Banned." Taurosevicius had picked up wins over Young, Dan Lauzon and the WEC's Bart Palszewski before losing his last bout with Ryan Schultz. They should be fairly evenly matched coming into August 1st.
