Affliction made their August 1st event official this week with a press release announcing the third pay-per-view event, dubbed "Trilogy." Headlined by Fedor Emelianenko vs. Josh Barnett for the WAMMA Heavyweight Title, some of the main card bouts had already been established or at least made known coming into the release, including Paul Buentello vs. Tim Sylvia and Renato "Babalu" Sobral vs. Gegard Mousasi.

The night will begin once again with a free live broadcast of undercard fights on HDNet before the pay-per-view portion of the cared begins. The press release announced a few of those fights.

Lightweights Chris Horodecki and Dan Lauzon will face off on the free portion of the broadcast, as will welterweights Jay Hieron and Paul Daley. Also announced for the show are former IFL lightweight Deividas Taurosevicius and 9-4 welterweight Brett Cooper. The HDNet broadcast begins at 7:30 PM ET, while the pay-per-view broadcast begins at 9 PM ET.

Penick's Analysis: Lauzon vs. Horodecki and Hieron vs. Daley are very good fights that set up the HDNet portion of the night nicely. Again, Affliction is certainly putting together a solid night of fights, but no matter how much they want to sell this as the best "bang for your buck" the majority of people that buy UFC pay-per-views will overlook this show between the two big UFC shows surrounding it.
