Once again, my apologies for this taking so long. Not sure what the problem was, but when I went to type this up last night I couldn't get logged on to the Article Manager. Anyways...you've waited for what must seem like years, but here (finally) are the results of the UFC 83 betting and prediction contests.

To save time I'm only listing the results of the top people. And keep in mind the belts weren't on the line here. The top performers are all co-number 1 contenders for the title, to be decided at UFC 84.

PREDICTION CONTESTS:

There were some pretty good performances on the prediction side of things. Prediction savant Micky Wan did the best, predicting ten of eleven fights correctly (missing only on Alan Belcher-Jason Day), and earning his spot in the title fight next month. Determining the second slot was far more difficult. Rich Boles, Brian Fuller, and your's truly all predicted nine of eleven fights correctly, so we had to go to the tie-breakers. In the unlikeliest of scenarios, we all also predicted 9 rounds/methods correctly.

The only solution? A four corner survival match at UFC 84! Micky Wan vs. Rich Boles vs. Brian Fuller vs. Matt Pelkey, winner take all! Good luck to everyone.

BETTING CONTEST:

The performances on the betting contest weren't so solid. It's not the better's fault, though, as only one fighter with a + in front of his name was victorious. That one fighter certainly came into play. Below are the betters who turned a profit.

Nut (board name, no real name provided)-
Successful bets: $500 on Nate Quarry (-230) for $717.40
                          $200 on Rich Clementi (-120) for $366.66
    Total payout: $1084.06
    Total profit: $84.06

Mike Jarsulic-
Successful bets: $100 on Rich Clementi (-120) for $183.33
$300 on Cain Velasquez (EVEN) for $600
$200 on Damian Maia (EVEN) for $400
    Total payout: $1183.33
    Total profit: $183.33

Mark Patterson-
Successful bets: $300 on Maia (EVEN) for $600
$100 on Velasquez (EVEN) for $200
                          $300 on Jason MacDonald (-265) for $413.20
    Total payout: $1213.20
    Total profit: $213.20

Rich Boles-
Successful bets: $500 on Clementi (-120) for $916.67
$400 on Maia (EVEN) for $800
    Total payout: $1716.67
    Total profit: $716.67

Matt Pelkey-
Successful bets: $400 on Jason Day (+390) for $1960
    Total payout: $1960
    Total profit: $960

Micky Wan-
Successful bets: $450 on Maia (EVEN) for $900
$450 on Velasquez (EVEN) for $900
                          $100 on Clementi (-120) for $183.33
    Total payout: $1983.33
    Total profit: $983.33

So there you have it. No one was even able to double their money. And, once again, Micky Wan was the top performer. Coming in second in the betting contest, and earning his spot in the betting championship next month....ME! Micky and I have the distinct honor of being able to win both titles in one fell swoop. I say good luck to him and everyone else competing at UFC 84. Check back tomorrow for my long overdue post-UFC 83 thoughts and analysis. Til then...
