UFC 70 "Nations Collide," which aired on Spike TV last Saturday in prime time, drew more male viewers 18-34 than any other show all day Saturday on all of televison - baodcast or cable, with over 100,000 more viewers than its nearest competitor, NASCAR on Fox.
It also drew more men 18-34 than first round coverage of the NBA on ESPN and Saturday afternoon baseeball on Fox featuring the Yankees vs. Red Sox.
The overall rating was 1.84 (1.7 million households), still less than half of what a typical edition of WWE Raw draws on Monday nights each week, but a strong cable rating nonetheless.
The card improved Spike's ratings in that timeslot a year earlier same date by 651 percent among 18-34, 2,150 percent among M18-24, and 406 percent among M 25-34.
The peak rating for UFC 70 came during the final 15 minutes, drawing a 4.36 rating among M18-34 and a 2.24 overall household rating (3.5 million viewers). That peak rating is similar to a typical Raw peak rating for its final quarter hour.
Mirko Cro Cop vs. Gabriel Gonzaga was the second-most-watched UFC fight in history, after the October 2006 Tito Ortiz vs. Ken Shamrock III on Spike TV.
